Students in math classes need lots of hands-on experiences in order to make math real. Having access to class sets is important so that every student can have the experience. Your donation will help me achieve that in my math classes. It will allow more students to be able to work independently.
My students attend an inner city school with a diverse population. They are very excited when they are able to use hands-on materials and technology.
They are very interested in computers and their cell phones so it helps when we are able to put those away and experience math.
My Project
The students in my class will use the materials for hands-on learning. The fraction sets will reinforce their learning of fractions which is a tough concept for kids of this age. The integer chips will help them understand how to add and subtract integers which will in turn teach them how to balance their checkbooks one day.
Donations to this project will help in emphasize math instruction.
Students will be able to use hands-on activities to feel math instead of watching someone else doing it. Students will be able to use math instruction to apply it to real world scenarios.
