This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We all know that math isn't the most exciting subject, but I want to change that for my kindergarten students.

My students are mostly ELL students.

Many of them don't speak English at all, while others speak very little. This means that hands-on materials and visuals are a must for them. Our school is in the inner city and 98% of our students are on free or reduced lunch.

My Project

I am requesting math games and activities that will make learning math for kindergartners visual and hands-on. These activities include games/activities for counting, early addition, sorting, number order, and shapes. Games such as shape matching, lady bug counting and much, much, more! Research shows kindergartners are kinesthetic learners. They learn best with their hands. This is also true of ELL students. ELL students learn best with their hands, and lots of visuals. I want to make math exciting for my students with hands on learning that will make them beg for math time!

Math is a subject that many students struggle with, and it is essential throughout their school career.

I want to turn this math mountain into a baby hill by inspiring my students to learn with fun activities.
