This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Math can be challenging, especially for students who learn best through hands-on, visual, and interactive experiences. Traditional instruction alone isn’t enough for many of my students, who need to see and physically engage with math concepts to truly understand them. I teach in Homestead, where many of my students face financial hardships and lack essential learning resources. Most are below grade level in math and struggle with foundational concepts without the right tools. That’s why I’ve selected manipulatives like 3D shapes, fraction tiles, and magnetic tiles—tools that transform abstract ideas into concrete learning experiences. These tools will allow my students to visualize and physically engage with numbers and operations.
