My Students
My first year of teaching my third and fourth grade scholars students are unbelievable and awesome at the same time. I cannot imagine myself anywhere else except with these special young learners. Our school is located in a diverse neighborhood. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally they are all different in their own way.
The use of these math materials will be almost a daily use in the classroom.
My students come from a variety of different economic background; some from low-income homes. Over 70% of our students receiving are free school lunch. Nonetheless, they are a spirited and very energetic bunch. My classroom consists of students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities developmental and communicative delays.
I am trying to meet their learning needs by creating a space that provides the best educational experiences. This will be a space they can call home as they are encouraged to be themselves and try their best always. I believe students with special needs require an educational space with much differentiated instruction and the essential tools required to target their learning styles. I am asking for these necessary supplies to get my students ready for fifth grade.
My Project
These math tools will be a great addition to my classroom. By donating to our classroom project, you will not only help to improve and increase my scholars' attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Because of the various disabilities, learning new concepts in math, especially abstract thinking is very difficult. When students have the hands-on experience to help build their knowledge of mathematical skills they process better. My scholars like bright colors. These bright shapes will bring joy to their learning experiences. Although it is only my first year of teaching I know that these topics are a real challenge for students and having these materials in the classroom will help my scholars gain a better understanding of math. My goal is to reach my scholars with many different approaches. I would like to give them all the tools they need to succeed in the area of math.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
