My students need hands-on materials such as Sorting Baskets, Dinosaurs Puzzles, Flowers Counting Box, Patterning and Graphing Tray and others to help them learn about Math.
Early childhood students learn best by using manipulative's and doing things with their senses. Math activities are not just worksheets, flash cards and number lines. My students need more materials to help them learn about math concepts and have fun at the same time!!
I have 20 students in each of my AM and PM Pre-K classes.
I work in a low-income school and our program is an At-Risk Pre-K. At-risk factors include poverty, single family homes, incarcerated parent, English as a second language, etc. I also have 30% of my students with IEPs. My students range in age from 3-5 years.
My Project
Students will learn to question, analyze, explore and discover through the materials requested. I will expose my students to math materials that will teach them about counting, number sense, ordinal numbers, money, time, patterning and sequencing.
There are so many different items and games my students can use with the funding of this project to help them learn about math and different math skills.
These materials will be used primarily during free exploration and students can choose to use the materials as they wish.
I want them to have the curiosity and excitement that they can gain from exploring different types of math materials, manipulative's and games.
Donation to this project will continue to serve students year after year. Math is obviously such an important curriculum area and I want to expose my students to as many different activities as possible!
More than half of students from low‑income households
