My students need multiple math manipulatives such as, counters, ten frames, etc. They also need an iPad that will be used to improve many skills using educational apps.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I want my students to go above and beyond academic expectations! As a teacher I am here to assist students and help mold them into greatness.
I am currently working as a 1st Grade teacher in a small charter school.
I am responsible for 22 first graders with the biggest hearts. I always said the people who have the least are the ones who appreciate it the more. Our school located in a predominately low-income Hispanic neighborhood in Houston’s South East End. Most of our students come from very poor homes, but that does not stop them. I would describe my school as a big family willing to help no matter what.
My Project
There is only so much that can be done with a lack of resources. The addition of these math manipulative will give the students the hands on learning they need. The students will use these math tools to help them solve the problems that are being mastered. Both the math manipulatives and iPad will be used for differentiated instruction. All students work and learn at different levels and students will use these online apps to practice skills at their learning levels.
Funding this project will change my students' lives because it will allow them to explore math concepts and be exposed to technology that they probably would never see at home.
Having academic success will make the students feel great and have more confidence.
