My students need opportunities for hands on learning in the classroom. To help ensure learning my students need learning centers, file folder math and word games, and hands on visuals.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in the special education setting I want my students to be as successful as they can be. It is my job to ensure that they have the materials to help provide them more opportunities to learn and grow in the classroom.
My students are just like any other elementary school kids.
They are happy, hyper, and hands-on. My classroom is made up of students in kindergarten, first, and second grades. My classroom is currently made up of nine students. These nine students have a variety of needs. A handful of my students are non-verbal meaning that they cannot effectively communicate their needs. As in most settings, my classroom is made up of students with very different learning styles. Some students learn visually, aurally, or kinesthetically. Some of the students understand concepts on the first attempt, while others may take more prompting, redirection, or assistance.
My Project
In my classroom we utilize stations. These stations allow my students to learn independently or in smaller groups. The special education staff and I watch the students closely as they are continuing to master tasks.
We need learning centers, file folder math and word games, and hands on visuals. File folder games would allow my students to continue to practice the skills they have previously learned. Interactive games will help provide my students with a fun game where the hopes is that they will be learning indirectly. Lastly, visuals would allow me to provide those students who need to see things in multiple ways with a visual representation of what they have just learned.
By donating to this project you will have an impact on my student's educational careers.
It is important that we set the tone for learning in early elementary. Please provide my students with the materials to ensure they become the best learners they can be.
