Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in Los Angeles surrounded by poverty. They have limited resources available to them in their neighborhood and school. Many students have experienced trauma in their lives and this makes it difficult to attend school. When they are at school they are eager to learn, feel safe, and try to leave their troubles behind.
Students feel safe at school.
They come to learn, play, and have fun with their peers.
All students at our school receive free lunch and now they are given a hot dinner before they go home.
My Project
My students want to learn. It is difficult to learn when you are a kinesthetic learner. With the dough students will make the letters of the alphabet on the alphabet mats. The Squish & Squeeze Sensory Beads students will be able to mold letters and numbers to help them remember what they are learning.
The Dough, Sensory Dough, Squish & Squeeze Sensory Beads, tactile letters and sand will all be used to help all types of learners in my classroom.
Learning will be fun. While having fun students will be reinforcing what they have learned by molding it with beads, dough, and sand.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
