My Project

The COVID-19 pandemic has dampened students' enthusiasm for school, making it vital to provide engaging and interactive learning experiences to rekindle their passion for learning. My project aims to enhance hands-on, student-led learning experiences by providing essential educational tools that will enrich my classroom activities and foster a deeper understanding of various subjects. I am seeking funding to acquire a diverse set of learning resources designed to engage students in active, practical learning.

First, I plan to introduce an owl pellet set, which will allow students to dissect and explore food chains in a tangible way.

This interactive activity will give students insight into ecosystems and animal diets. Additionally, I will obtain a landform set tailored to Colorado's geography, enabling students to visually and physically understand local landforms.To further support geographic education, I will provide modeling clay for students to create and study geographic features specific to Gunnison, Colorado.

A fossil dig activity is also on my list, designed to offer a tangible connection to paleontology and the study of dinosaurs. Through this engaging activity, students will uncover "fossils" and gain a better understanding of how scientists reconstruct prehistoric life.

To enhance map skills, I will include a compass set for use in a scavenger hunt, making geography lessons more interactive and fun. This activity will help students apply their map-reading skills in a practical setting.

Finally, I am committed to supporting my students' emotional and physical well-being with a calm down kit and chair bands. The calm down kit will provide tools for emotional regulation, while the chair bands will help students with movement needs stay focused and engaged in class.
