This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have been a cohort since Kindergarten and are sweet, respectful and curious. They are returning to the classroom after spending a year and a half learning virtually. They’ve expressed to me their love for Science and I would love to be able to provide them with hands-on activities.

I have a 4th grade DLI (dual language immersion) class, which means that most of my students aren't native speakers and many are newcomers.

The majority of my students are far below grade level and unfortunately my school site doesn't have the materials I need to truly help my students excel.

My Project

I’m a first year teacher at a high-poverty, Title 1 school located in Richmond, California. Due to the pandemic, lack of education, and immigration status among other things our families often struggle to find employment and the ability to provide students with academic support.

By donating to my project you will help create a welcoming classroom environment full of resources to assist in students learning.

I will use these resources to create a library space my students can be proud of and look forward to sitting in and reading. Your contributions will provide differentiated learning and bring joy to learning for my students. This is an amazing group of students and I am so lucky and excited to be their teacher this year!

I asked for a classroom rug with hopes that it will motivate my students to spend more time in our classroom library area during independent reading time.

My students have been learning virtually and I have asked for some learning material and books that I plan to use to differentiate material and engage them as well.

My students are excited to learn about science and providing them with these science hands on activities would make them so happy and would provide an amazing learning experience for them.
