My Students

I work with incredible first graders with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments. Our first-grade inclusion class focuses on the foundations of reading, writing, and math.

My students are amazingly unique individuals who are always eager to learn new things.

My main goal for my students is to build basic skills to close the academic gap between them and their peers in reading, writing, and math. Working in small groups provides my students with differentiated instruction tailored to their individual needs. As a class, we encourage each other and celebrate our “little wins” together.

My Project

After a year of pandemic learning, my first-grade students may have some catching up to do. Students may have missed out on some academic content and virtual differentiation was limited. Our “Hands-on Learning” project will provide my students with a variety of engaging activities to practice math, reading, and writing standards. Students will be able to learn using hands-on activities such as pocket charts, draw write touch boards, a letter activity center, number bingo, phonics puzzles, and more. These activities will give my students opportunities to learn using multisensory manipulatives. Every student loves games! What’s more fun than learning through play?

Students will learn through play with safety protocols in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 8-Tray Mobile Organizers will keep the activities separate between students. We will store the trays on the organizer and disinfect them between student uses.

Overall, these colorful hands-on games and activities will definitely help my students return to the classroom after a year of pandemic. These centers will boast my students learning to “bridge the academic gap” while creating a safety barrier with the tray organizers.
