This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are great. They love learning, and they enjoy coming to school. My students are mostly immigrants or children of immigrants. Many are English language learners (ELLs). Nearly all students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch because their family household incomes are below the poverty line.

My school is a large, crowded school in a very large urban district.

This past year, we have had a lot of budget cuts. Several staff from our school were cut. Most of our budget has been used to keep the teachers and staff that we do have. Even though the school has limited resources, students have some of the highest test scores in the area.

My Project

This quarter, the majority of my students are signed up to continue remote learning. Most of my students have been remote learning for over a year. They are struggling to stay motivated to continue to learn through a computer.

After a year of remote learning, my students are in desperate need of hands on projects.

This month, we are learning more about France. We have been studying the history and architecture of the Eiffel Tower. These Eiffel Tower kits will give my students a hands-on opportunity to explore what we are learning in class. Thank you for the opportunity to make learning come alive for my students.
