My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, and our elementary students have many challenges in and out of the classroom. All the students at our school receive a free breakfast and lunch. These challenges can hold students back so I do whatever I can to give them every advantage I can. I am looking to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences.

My students have disabilities, but they don’t let their disabilities hold them back.

They strive to do their best every day.

My Project

Many of my students with special needs are unable to do the work that their peers are doing in their classrooms. I have to provide work for them to do, but worksheets are repetitive and boring. I am constantly looking for fun activities that they can do that will foster their learning and that they won't mind doing more than once. I have purchased many activities on teacher websites, but they require assembly (copying, laminating, cutting) which takes up valuable time. The students are getting tired of these activities and the students' skills are emerging so they need new work. I selected literacy, numeracy, and language games and activities that my students will love, that will support their progress, and that they won't mind doing them more than once.
