My Students

My class is made up of 11 awesome individual kids

(2 not photographed).

I am the teacher to the grades 3-5 Life Skills class in Springfield, IL. My students' disabilities range from Autism to Intellectual Disabilities to Down Syndrome, Other Health Impairments and more. Even though my students are between the ages of 7 and 12, cognitively and developmentally the ages range from 12-18 months and 6 years old. We not only work on academic skills, we also learn about functional life skills, social/emotional skills, hygiene, communication and more. We love our brain breaks and free play time, as much as we love learning. Any donation that is made will be greatly appreciated and put to great use.

My Project

These materials can be used in so many ways to help my students learn different concepts needed in everyday life. Not only can they use the products as they are intended for, but we can use each item in different ways to help promote growth in all areas of learning.

Independence is happiness.

The more independent each child can become, the better. There is nothing like seeing their faces when they understand a concept or complete a task with little assistance - there are just no words to describe it

My students work so hard everyday to complete many tasks that most take for granted.
