This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a dual language 1st grade teacher in Corona, Queens. My classroom is filled with diverse learners from different cultural backgrounds. It is a big melting pot of highly motivated young explorers who love to learn. I strive to foster an environment of respect and a love for learning. I enjoy witnessing my students encourage each other to grow. Throughout the day you can hear many “good job!” and “great work!” comments on my classroom. My students enjoy learning through group work as well as literacy and math centers.

My Project

I will be using these materials to make literacy and math centers for my first graders. My students enjoy engaging in group activities and centers. They love anything that is hands on! These materials will help me continue to make engaging centers for my students to apply the strategies they learn throughout the week.

My energetic first graders love to put their hands and minds to use through literacy and math centers.

They tell me how much they enjoy them and give me feedback. The feedback they give allows me to continue creating fun and engaging ways for them to learn.
