My Students

Benjamin Franklin said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." The scholars in Room 203 are involved! They are involved in research. They are involved in collaboration. They are involved in creating. Engagement is at an all-time high!My students are amazing third graders that have a so much talent and creativity.

They have passion for learning and it shows in everything that they do.

Passionate for learning, these students enter the door eager to take on the demanding academic tasks of the day.

With new state standards, our students are being asked to think differently, process differently, and produce work differently. Yet with all this change, they are motivated. They are constantly asking challenging questions and working diligently to find the answers. This year's group of scholars is particularly interested in hands on learning and being provided with technology and having multiple opportunities~

My Project

My students are a very hands on class. I am limited in the number of math manipulatives I have in my classroom. I will be able to use the bar graph, clock, base ten, and place value stamps to help the children stay organized in their math work. The ink will be used with the stamps. The write and wipe boards will allow more hands on learning from my class because each child will have access to the ten frames in a neat and organized way. The jumbo ten frame will allow children to see a larger version of a ten frame and they will also be able to use it themselves when working in collaborative groups.

All of the resources will allow my class to have access to more hands on learning.

The two color counters will be used for many math skills and with the above write and wipe boards. The positive and negative number dice will help with the concept of one, two, or three more and one, two, or three less when adding and subtracting. The centimeter cubes will be used when measuring and with place value. The base ten rods will be used with place value concepts. They will be able to make abstract concepts more concrete with the use of these math manipulatives
