My Project
My students like to use new supplies at the beginning of the year. Our class needs printer ink to make copies for the students to use when they are playing math games with the dice. The copies will have the directions on them and examples of how to play the different games throughout the year. These games will include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They will also need dry erase markers to quickly share their answers, and pencils to complete assessments. These tools will help the students get their fine motor skills in motion. With the wipes, the students will be taught how to clean up their supplies to keep our classroom free of germs.
Daily, the students will play math games and work cooperatively to clean up their areas by using wet-wipes to sanitize their markers, pencils, dice, and desks.
In one of the games, the students will roll two dice and add them together after each student rolls 5 times. Then, they will add up the facts on their papers to compare the totals and see who wins. They will also play similar games for subtraction, multiplication, and division. These daily math games will help the students build and retain the math facts that they are expected to know throughout the year and beyond.
By making learning fun and teaching the students responsibility at a young age, they will be able to use these skills now and in the future.
