My Students
My students attend one of two Special Education classrooms for primary and intermediate students. These are “blended classrooms,” meaning that our special education students have several opportunities daily to work alongside their general education classmates. The general and special education teachers partner to implement lessons and activities appropriate for both groups when they are blended. My classroom is a 3rd-5th grade self-contained classroom that does blending with a partner general education 4th/5th grade classroom. We do many activities together such as social-emotional lessons, art, free choice, music, PE, and library.
My Project
The students I teach learn best when they have hands-on materials to work with. These items will be used to continue to print things in color that students can touch, see closely, and manipulate during math, social-emotional, and ELA lessons. Laminated workbooks allow students to write and draw on them then erase to re-use over and over as repetition is key for my students. Some items, like morning meeting workbooks, created last year need to be re-done for better quality. Overall, we use these items each day to create a variety of materials that support students in our program.
