My Students
Can you imagine how much fun it is for students to use large math manipulatives during a math lesson?
My students are a group of first graders, who are from different social economical groups.
They attend a high-poverty school. However, this does not affect their passion about learning. They love to learn new concepts and ideas. They are always excited about learning!
My Project
These giant magnetic materials will change my students' ways of learning. It will make learning more engaging. Students can be part of the learning. They will be able to use the magnetic materials during Math lessons to increase their participation. Students will use the magnetic coins during a Math lesson to learn about coin combinations. The large magnetic coins allow students to see the difference between each coin, which will allow them to remember the coin values better. Students will also use the magnetic Base-10 Blocks to learn place value. During the lesson, students will be able to see the different values of each block, and they will also be moving the Base-10 Blocks on the whiteboard to see how it is moved from one place to the next and the value of that.
Your donations will make a difference in our students' learning.
Learning will not be just sitting on the carpet and watch the teacher do a demonstration, but to use their own hands to participate during the learning process.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
