Hands-On Learning Is Play-Doh Fun!

My students need Play-Doh and Play-Doh Factory for learning centers in Kindergarten. They also need laminating pouches to make academic mats for their Play-Doh centers.

My Students

Play-Doh is a part of every student's childhood memory. I want all students to have fun learning with Play-Doh!

My 20 Kindergarten students attend a Title I public school in a beautiful coastal town in NC.

All economic levels are represented, as well as students with English as their second language. Our state has adopted the New Core Curriculum which has integrated Art into the curriculum. We live in a resort/fishing town with lots of migration in the off tourist season. Our school is small with only 3 teachers per grade level. Our community is close and most everyone works in some type of trade to benefit the resort areas. We like school and learning about the our past, present and future!

My Project

Hands-on learning fun with Play-Doh is academic learning at its best. I would like to use Play-Doh as a word making center in my classroom. Making letters and numbers with Play-Doh will be fun and challenging for little learners. My Kinders will enjoy using the learning mats, made with the laminating pouches, to make their letters and numbers. Kinders will also use the Play-Doh to form the letters in their names at the beginning of the year. Kindergartners are usually five years old and learn best with engaging, hands on activities. Learning by forming their letters and numbers with Play-Doh will give them a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence that will enable them to go further and learn sight words and sounds to begin reading.

I want to share my love of learning with my students throughout the year.

I need Play-Doh to do this. With the help of donors my students' academic lives can be enriched and their critical thinking skills enhanced through hands-on activities using Play-Doh.
