Most of my students have never had science instruction before now. Given the economic conditions and federal, state, and district funding cuts, we have no funding available for purchasing these supplies. Our aged textbooks can only do so much for engaging my students and explaining the material.
My science scholars are 7th grade students in an under-funded urban school in Missouri.
They are at a very inquisitive age that is perfect for scientific inquiry. Science concepts tend to be very "blah" and boring if they read it directly from a textbook, but applying the concepts to things they enjoy makes science come alive for them. The items in my wish list will give them the opportunity to experience hands-on science and to excite them about the concepts we're studying.
My Project
These items will not only give my students a deep understanding of scientific concepts, but they'll also instill within them a life-long love of science and inquiry. Help me develop our future scientists, inventors, astronauts, doctors, engineers, etc. by implementing centers in the classroom. My science scholars would understand the material so much better if they could spend time manipulating various objects.
I need to provide my scholars with an opportunity to interact with science instead of simply reading about it.
Your generosity will help bring science to my students in a way they've never known.
