Hands-on Learning in Fun!

My students need a Science Discovery Chest as well as other hands-on materials to help them succeed in both Social Studies and Science.

My Students

Our 2nd grade classroom is awesome!! I have 7 students who are on the Autism Spectrum, and a second 2nd grade classroom that will also use the materials purchased. My students range from non-verbal to functionally verbal and are at all levels of learning at any given time. They all love to learn, especially reading!

Our school is a mixture of a general education program and an autism program which allows our students the opportunity to be integrated into general education situations as often as possible.

We are a low income school, servicing a majority of free and reduced-price lunch students.

My Project

Students with autism commonly need more hands-on materials to learn a skill or idea. Our program does not have materials to support our curriculum in the areas of Social Studies or Science. All materials that we need have to be provided by the teachers.

Getting a Science Discovery Chest, a magnetic set and file folder Social Studies games will really bring learning alive for my students.

The materials in these sets will support my students' learning across both subjects and allow them to understand the lessons in ways they cannot with just books or worksheets.

They will also really benefit from the calendar learning program which has a lot of reinforcing lessons to keep past lessons fresh in their memories.
