Hands-on Learning From a Distance

Help me give my students hands-on materials to help them access distance learning!

My Students

I am so fortunate to work with a group of students who are unique and special in many different ways. I work with special needs students in kindergarten through third grade. All of my students require full-time special education support in order to help increase their skills in each area of development. Most of my students are nonverbal and have behavior challenges. My classroom is now fully remote for the second time. My students have worked so hard to adjust to our consistently changing routines, but it is difficult for them to understand why they can't be in school right now. We are located in a public, inner-city school, in a high-poverty neighborhood, where students receive free breakfast and lunch every day. My goal is to create hands-on materials for my students that are as similar to our in person materials as possible. Thank you for taking the time to learn about the amazing students who I work with.

My Project

My students require engaging activities to help keep them interested and motivated to learn. All of my students are still developing their fine motor skills and are not yet able to demonstrate their learning using pencil and paper. My students learn best through hands-on activities. Due to COVID-19, my classroom is currently fully remote. Distance learning is difficult for many of my students to access due to their unique learning needs. I have created hands-on materials for all of my students to use at home, and I would like to be able to switch out these materials each month to keep students engaged and to reflect our monthly themes.

In order to make creating monthly hands-on activities for each of my students, I am asking for laminating pouches, Velcro, printing paper, and dry erase markers.

Thank you so much for considering donating to my project!

My students and I appreciate it more than you know!
