Hands-On Learning for Middle School Students with Special Needs
Help me give my students an opportunity for hands-on learning with these materials!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are residents of the Bronx and primarily live in District 10, one of the largest school districts in New York. My students come from a wide array of cultural backgrounds and many are either the children of immigrants or immigrants themselves. Most of my students receive special education services along with other related services such as speech therapy or counseling. In addition, several are classified as English language learners. Many students struggle with economic opportunities and temporary housing in my school.
My Project
Many of my students have special needs that must be addressed in order to provide them with the highest quality of education possible.
These miniature dry-erase boards with markers will help them express themselves in a kinesthetic manner that provides an alternative to raising their hands and waiting to be called on.
The paper towels will serve as erasers whenever students use these white boards. Also, yellow drafting paper can help students differentiate between a rough and a published draft when working on written assignments. Color coding can serve as a helpful visual cue for students who struggle with fine processing and organizational skills.
Thank you so much for taking time out to learn about my amazing students and to fund my project.
