This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a room full of eager students who love to ask those "why" and "how" questions. At the end of the school year, I would like my students to understand the fourth grade science standards. The challenge is that the science kits are very old and usually are missing material that needed.

I have 29 fourth grades.

They enjoy having discussions about what we are learning in all subject area. They enjoy working in teams and love a class challenge. The school is located in a city that does not have many resources or things to do. The school has about 600 students. Most of my students have never experienced things like camping or going to the mountains to play in the snow. They are very limited in their personal experience about what amazing things are out there.

My Project

We all remember reading our science book, but our learning didn't really begin until we used our hands for discovery. With the science kits I am requesting my students will be able to learn about electricity and magnets through investigation and hands on learning. Their eyes will light up when they discover how electricity works. They will discover how magnets work. They will also be able to learn about the world through nonfiction texts.

The donation will improve my classroom because it will give my students access to learning about electricity and magnets with the use of the science kits.

The donation will change my students' lives for the better because it might spark an interest in science. Who knows maybe some of them will decide to become scientists.
