This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students love to do all kinds of experiments and hands on activities.
Our second graders live in a very rough area of the South Bronx.
They are constantly being surrounded by "adult problems" in their community, such as gunfire and physical and verbal fights. They are sweet children who come to school to learn. For many, school is the only stable and constant thing in their lives.
My Project
By helping to fund our trip, it will allow the students to get a hands-on opportunity to learn about plants. The students will be able to take apart a flower, observe different root systems, and even plant their own seed. They will also be able to observe how their seed grows into a plant.
This trip will allow the children to step out of the classroom and not only learn about plants, but they will also be able to see different types of plants from all around the world.
For example, they will be able to observe plants found in the rainforest. This trip will bring their learning to a higher level in a fun, exciting, way.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
