My Students
Do you remember what it was like to be in school where you just sat in your chair for six hours straight? You might have felt like school was a waste of time and that the teacher was punishing you. Well this is NOT the experience I want my students to have!
All of my students are seventh graders who study Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Earth, and Atmosphere throughout the year.
Besides myself, there are two other seventh grade science teachers at my school. Together we collaborate to make science real, interesting, and applicable to our students. Our students have great minds and are interested in science. Because many of our students come from low SES backgrounds, we oftentimes purchase all of the supplies for labs, the classroom, and even snacks for our students so they do not continue on through the school day hungry. Our students are diverse and strong in their beliefs. Please make science real for them now so they will be inspired to continue taking science classes in high school, in college, and apply science to their career!
My Project
I am requesting ten clamp lamps for my students. We will be able to use the clamp lamps all year for different science labs. Many of our labs require constant light/heat and we do not currently have supplies to do these labs. These lamps will be used by all seventh grade students, and most likely the sixth and eighth grade students as well. This means that these ten clamp lamps will be used to help over seven hundred and twenty students learn science!
Please donate to make science real for our students.
We truly believe in hands-on, inquiry-based science for our students. If we do not make science real for our students now, many of them will chose to not take science in high school, which could result in them not having enough science credits to go to college. We need to inspire students in science to prepare them for college and future careers. Thank you for making science real for the students in Washington!
