My Students
My students face a variety of challenges daily. Many of my students don't comprehend basic nutrition, nor do many receive the nutrition they need. I want to make them understand why nutrition is important in their lives.
My students are a great bunch of kids who come from families that are economically challenged.
100% of my students are at poverty level or below. They are faced with many challenges in their lives. One of the major issues facing my students is getting the nutrition they need to live healthy lives. Most of my students are either underweight or overweight. Proper nutrition is something my students need to learn. They also need to understand how nutrition effects their bodies.
My Project
In Health class we discuss nutrition in great detail. We also cover how lack or improper nutrition can harm the body. Since MyPlate was just recently implemented into our curriculum, my students need materials that will help them learn about nutrition. The Portion Plates will demonstrate to my students proper portion control. It will also help them understand more about nutrition. Nutrition Bingo will be a great way to assess my students about what they have learned about nutrition and at the same time, they can have a little fun in Health class. I will be able to demonstrate how improper nutrition effects the body by using he muscle and body fat replicas. The Human Torso will also help my students understand how our body systems work together to help us stay healthy.
My students have always lacked necessities in life that many take for granted.
