My students need hands-on materials such as the writing center kits to encourage independence. The magnets, stencils and stamps will support learning through play.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It is evident that my learning center areas (literacy, math, science and art) are well-loved places in my classroom. However, with budget cuts and limited funds, it is becoming increasingly hard to supply these centers with the hands-on materials needed to support learning.
My 25 kindergarteners are a fun-loving bunch.
They are excited and eager about learning. They learn best through play. Actually, their favorite time of day is choice time. This is where they go off to various learning centers to play. They think they are playing, but they are actually having an opportunity to experiment, make connections, make discoveries, and reinforce skills and concepts taught. All of these things enrich their academic development.
My Project
Having access to the writing center kits, math games, alphabet stamps, stencils, play dough accessories, and magnets will keep the students' interest at peak level and will be reinforcing and building on previously taught concepts. At the same time, they will be making connections and new discoveries that can only be facilitated in independent or small group play. As the children work and are actively engaged, I would be able to work with small groups of students who are in need of extra support from me.
Hands-on learning materials will support and enrich the learning experience of my students.
They will keep it exciting and new. This enables them to play, which is the best way for kindergarteners to learn.
