I work with a wonderful group of students with special needs. I have students with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities. My students are cheerful and love to learn. My students have differing ability levels, from non-verbal to reading on a kindergarten level.
My students benefit from differentiated activities/materials and a hands-on learning experience.
Visuals and tactile materials help my students engage. These students require a small self-contained special education classroom. Our school is an excellent school which caters to students with disabilities.
My Project
These classroom materials will help create a hands-on learning environment for my students. My students who have difficulty writing due to fine motor delays will be able to use letter stamps and ink pads to write. My students will be able to increase their ability to match objects and recognize words, while building social skills through the use of Zingo (word bingo).
Having these hands-on learning tools will help my students to grow across all areas of development!
My students will be able to form letters and numbers inside the kinetic sand using their fingers. My students will be able to work together, increase fine motor skills, and identify shapes through the use of Magna-Tiles. I will use the pocket chart to display visuals for my students to help increase their comprehension of topics being taught. These materials will be such a great help in enhancing my students' learning experiences and increasing their ability to gain basic skills.
