Hands on From Home

Help me give my students the hands on materials they need to learn with at home in order to be engaged and fully understands the concepts that I will be teaching from a distance.

My Students

My first graders are a group of creative, energetic, and out of the box thinkers! They challenge me to teach in new and innovative ways so that they can learn based on their individual ways. With some of my students having autism and others needing social/emotional support, I've had to be creative in the way I give them access to learning. Since over 90% of my first graders come from low socio-economic backgrounds, many of them have not experienced, nor do they have access to, diverse materials that enhance their learning experiences when they are outside of school. It is at my school and in my classroom that I must provide my students with a rich experience that will help them develop a love for learning and feel successful as a learner!

My Project

Since finding out that the school year will definitely begin with learning from home, the materials in this project will give my first graders the opportunity to learn with hands on materials, they way they would in my classroom. The materials will help students in multiple subject areas and allow them to further their understanding of concepts as well as further develop their fine motor skills and organizational skills.

The white boards will allow students to practice writing letters, words, sentences, math numbers, equations, and even drawing the beginning of their two dimensional shapes.

These boards are engaging and easy to use for first graders, but my students do not have access to these in their own homes. The counting/linker cubes, dice, and shapes are some of the fundamental tools we use in class during the school year to learn the different math concepts.

The folders will help students organize the work they are completing at home as well as the pre-made worksheets that I will be sending home for student o use for practice of their alphabet as well as cutting and glueing worksheets.
