My Students
I always tell each of my World Changers that they will go and change the world, of course for the better. Many of them have not been able to log on during this pandemic due to the bandwidth in their apartment complex. The school provided devices and hot spots, but the connection is very weak. I also have students who are in need of structure. They can't control their home environment and sometimes if they do log in they may log in at 2 in the morning on a Saturday and that is it for the week. They log in to say hello and to tell me they love me. My heart continues to break, but I am striving to be strong for them as well as myself.
I sent out photo albums and books to each of my students earlier during this pandemic and their parents sent messages to say how overjoyed the kids were and how they couldn't put the books down.
I feel confident that if I can get books and tools that relate to what will be taught next year they will have a stronger start and less regression.
My Project
During this pandemic my World Changers have been so resilient. They have shown that despite their circumstances they still want to learn. I am blessed to be able to teach these precious souls next year and I couldn't be more excited. Students will be able to have online learning during the summer since our program was cancelled.
I am excited to plan and do experiments online for my World Changers and give them a head start on the curriculum for next year.
Batteries, copper tape, LED lights will be used for electrical circuits, nails, rocks, tape, and other household objects for children to see what objects attract and repel. Nonfiction reading for students to learn about a day in the life of the Civil War as I read aloud and send them videos. They will surely enjoy watching chemical changes with baking soda and food coloring. Demonstrating how to use a microscope to view various organisms will help students to understand the importance of how to use it properly before entering back into the classroom. I look forward to them transferring water properly with funnels, creating race cars with the balloons for force and motion, they will use the safety goggles at home while doing these experiments with me to remain safe and we can use them once we return to the classroom. The table cloth will be use to help with spills. ALL tools will be used for science and social studies experiences to meet the Georgia Department of Education standards.
These tools I am am so graciously asking for will help them in Science and Social Studies tremendously.
