My Students
My students have a great love of learning. They enjoy coming to school each day. Most of my students are from a low socioeconomic background. They don't have much, so they cherish the things they do have. Our school has more than 60% of our students receiving a free lunch. This means we have a lower socioeconomic status and are a Title I school.
My students have a deep love of learning and want to explore learning in many different ways.
They love coming to school and come excited about what the day will hold for them. These students are excited about life and learning.
My Project
These Math Manipulatives will help bring a fun and hands on learning environment into my classroom. These concrete tools will help my students to explore and understand problems more fully. They will not only be able to solve problems on paper but by manipulating these tools, get a better understanding of what they are learning.
Math manipulatives can reach many different types of learners, and help them to understand the problems they encounter.
In second grade students are introduced to many new math concepts including 2 digit addition with regrouping. This is a hard concept for students to grasp. Using manipulatives can help students get a hands on understanding of how these problems truly work.
These tools will be able to change the atmosphere of my classroom to one that is inviting to exploring new math problems. Students will be able to leave my class knowing and understanding more about solving problems.
