Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year is the seventh year our school offers STEM as a class and students are always excited to design, build, collaborate and create things. I teach in a low-income Chicago school with an almost 100% Hispanic population. I have been teaching at my school for 10 years.
My students are very excited about anything that we learn.
Whenever we add learn new content or review things we have covered, they are so creative and think of amazing new inventions. I see about 700 students every week and all of them are so innovative and just eager to learn and do new things.
My Project
Our students have been remote learning for a couple of years and we are ready to do hands-on learning. However, we are struggling with not having enough materials for everyone especially, while socially distanced.
My students love to design, create and build from their imagination.
I am really excited to be able to provide that opportunity to them and see them expand their imagination.
The Picasso tiles are going to be great for students that need practice with fine motor skills. There are so many skills that students have not been able to practice due to the pandemic, so being able to do these hands-on activities will be great.
