My Students
Every day I have the distinct pleasure of teaching and learning with 18 fantastic 5-6 year old. Many of the boys and girls come from a poverty stricken home that can be a disadvantage for them to keep up with technology as other peers in their community. One third of the students in my classroom have a learning disability or a physical disability and/or speak another language and is limited proficient in English, this makes learning interesting, fun, and unique.
My Project
Hands on learning is so vital to my young students. These math, reading, and writing centers will allow for all types of learners to participate in the learning process and address some social skills that is needed.
In Kindergarten, we learn the basics of each subject which will lay the foundation for the remainder of the educational journey.
For example, using the reading centers the students will learn how to decode and blend sounds together to create words. The writing center will allow students to match sight words tiles to the words in correct formation of a sentence, then the students will be able to copy the sentence and illustrate what the sentence says due to the task card all independently The math centers, they will practice and use basic addition and subtraction through clicking a button, flipping a chip, or placing magnets on the board. These centers will allow for a variety of options to learn in a fun and exciting way! Every day, we work in centers, small groups, or one on one with a teacher introducing and reviewing these skills.
