This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Hello! My purpose for teaching Chemistry is to encourage students to DO science. Many have struggled with their relationship to science previously and I want to encourage them to feel comfortable asking questions about the world around them, and also gain an appreciation for how science is conducted. This specific unit of biotechnology combines biology and chemistry so students can get a sense to how science is advancing in the real-world.
Should this list get funded, students will be able to use their knowledge from the classroom to experience how science is conducted in the real-world, along with looking at the ethics of the growing biotech industry.
My students are low-income, first-generation, and incredibly intelligent and curious. I hope to continue encouraging students for many years to come and your donation would mean the world to us.
