My Students

"Can we sit at our desks to learn now? We haven't been at our desk all day". "But we've been learning all day!" is the answer I give to my eager five year old students. This group of students come to school every day full of life and ready to learn! Despite the challenges that come with being from an income challenged background and a neighborhood filled with crime, 95% of my children attend school every day.

My school is a Title One school with 100% free lunch in Cleveland, Ohio.

Many of the students in my classroom do not own books of their own. It is my desire to expose them to a variety of literature in a variety of different subject areas such as math, science, and social studies as well as reading!

My Project

Students need manipulative and hands on materials to learn. At home, students don't have hands on materials they need to learn and create. At school, because of Covid, I would like students to be able to have their own learning materials so they lessen the chances of spreading germs. This year teaching in a remote environment, I realized how difficult it was for children to stay engaged when they didn't have the tools to help them create words and count items. Although they made the best of it, I would like them to have a better chance of success.
