Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from low income families all over Los Angeles. The majority of them are Title 1 students, receiving free lunch. Most of them travel about an hour each way to attend our school. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
Through art and creating this memory book, my students are able to express themselves in a way that they are not able to at home.
They are creative and looking forward to integrated art throughout all of our subject areas
My Project
This year we will be creating a memory book for each student. We will integrate art throughout the subject areas to contribute to our memory books. Students will include a writing sample, science, math, social studies, and health for each month. I also take a photo of them on the first day of each month and include it on a monthly page when they reflect on what we've learned.
Your generous donation to our project will enhance what my students are already creating.
The use of the sharpie pens and colored pencils allows us to laminate each page of our book. The students will take home a book they can keep for years to come. Many previous students bring their memory books to show me when they come to visit. They are proud of what they've created and cherish it for years.
