My Project

When our school opened 5 years ago, we opened with several hand drums for students to use. Unfortunately, we were not given a complete set. We have several medium drums, but not many large or small.

Not only are these drums fantastic for making music, but they are also great to connect to the science of sound!

The size of the instrument changes the sound. It is such an easy visual for the students to see and hear when they play these drums. Often times, we like to add different size drums to different parts to give it interest. With mostly medium drums, that is hard to do at the moment.

In addition, we don't have enough for an entire class to play together. We have to take turns with the drums which can lead to students not feeling welcomed or engaged. We are looking forward to being able to play together as a class and really explore the different possibilities of these drums!
