My Project
In many ELA classes, students are generally not doing enough hands-on projects. Nowadays, they are stuck staring at a scene or a book for a period. I believe that my students will enjoy learning by doing some hands-on projects. These projects will promote higher-level thinking. They will gain and practice universal skills such as critical thinking, collaborative learning, and taking responsibility.
With the project funded, I can allow students to create more.
For example, students will be reading Alan Grantz's "Refugee" this school year, and I would love to have my students make 3-D maps of a refugee's journey. Another example is having my students create their own versions of utopia, as they will dive into dystopian literature this year.
Projects like these will also benefit my ELs and SPED students as traditional summative assessments can be very challenging and streesful.
