My Project
The school I am in has gone a few years without a chemistry teacher and the lab was in shambles. We don't have much in the way of lab materials and many of things we have I had to buy myself. My kids really deserve hands on learning activities to keep them engaged and connected to science in the real world.
This overall project covers what I need to include at least 6 more labs for my chemistry students who will use the materials to collect and analyze data in a meaningful way to make inferences of both the macro and microscopic world of chemistry.
Chemistry is a hands on class with the potential to be really cool and meaningful for the students when done right. My goals for this project is to have students do hands on chemistry through experiments and model building to get a real world sense of chemistry.
The adjustable power supply will be used for electroplating metal and producing hydrogen gas through electrolysis. The microplates are for a tactile lab involving periodic trends that students will build models of the periodic table showing various periodic trends. The rest of the stuff helps round off supplies I do have to make working labs with all of the materials I need.
