This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Students are very creative and innovative. I have been inspired to teach students about the world of cosmetology in an after-school club that will allow them to implement skills learned through community service within our school community. All of our students want to learn at least one trade. This class will provide the opportunity for the students to learn how to learn many hairstyles and duplicate the styles for others in our school community as community service. Students will learn how to create hairstyles in the 21st century and learn about styles in our past. I love that our students want to learn different trades and attend college. Cosmetology is a path in which students can learn a trade and still have a career, just as I do. This is a way of earning money while in college and after college. The skills learned in this club are lifelong skills that the students will always cherish and can practice.
