This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Physical education is very important for children. At this time, my first grade students are not getting any physical education. I have decided to teach physical education to my students so they will be able to exercise and play gym games.

My twenty-six, energetic first graders attend school in a high poverty area in East Harlem, NY.

Many of my students live in shelters. They come to school everyday and are very eager to learn. They are inquisitive, playful and are improving in their academic skills everyday.

My Project

My students deserve to have a physical education curriculum. They should be able to exercise and play gym games. Unfortunately, I do not any gym materials to use. It would be a tremendous help if I had balls, jump ropes, games and hula hoops for the children to use.

It is crucial for first grade students to have physical education.

The obesity rate is this country is very high. My students could learn about the importance of exercise at a young age. If I can acquire these materials. I will able to conduct a gym class for my students.
