This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having new equipment for our 7th graders will be amazing this upcoming school year. Gym is important in their daily aspect of learning. With physical activity students are able to improve concentration and have higher test scores. Our students love playing soccer during gym. Soccer is one of the sports that help our students understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Having soccer has helped our teachers foster a sense of community and culture within our students.

While Gym is important, so is teaching our young ladies and gentlemen about hygiene.

As these students start adulthood, having the proper resources to help navigate and understand hygiene is important as a teacher. So many of our students come asking for pads and deodorant throughout the day and having the resources they need and not sending them off to someone else is critical for us.

My goal for this project is for students to continue having a fun learning environment with new soccer balls but also provide the proper resources for hygiene for students. Each year, I get closer and closer to my students and start to feel like a second mom to these kids. These students are deserving and need to come to a place where they are loved and have an understanding while not being judge if they can't afford certain things.
