Guitar Accessories for Elementary Music Room!

My students need guitar, gig bags, picks and extra strings for our fifth grade guitar program.

The students at our Detroit, Michigan school absolutely love music!

They are bright, creative, eager to learn, and naturally musical. While all of our students are fortunate to get a quality music education(something which is becoming less and less common over time), the experience, joy and frustration of learning how to play an instrument is something many children do not get to experience. We recently received 12 guitars from the wonderful people at DonorsChoose and are thrilled about learning guitar in the fifth grade. It has had a very positive affect on the attitudes of my fifth graders, giving them each a goal to work towards, and something to look forward to each day. In order to complete our newly formed guitar program, we are asking for some basic accessories to aid us in making some beautiful music.

My Project

The 17 gig bags would allow us to protect our instruments and keep them free of dust, nicks, and other extraneous elements. Currently, our guitars are in cardboard boxes which, overtime, become less and less effective at protecting the instruments. These gig bags would help ensure that these instruments are kept as pristine as possible, and will be enjoyed by many students for years to come. We are also asking for guitar picks and extra strings for general upkeep when our students accidentally break a string. Lastly, adding one more guitar would bring us closer to our goal of having a full set of classroom guitars (17).

As my students and I have been recently blessed with 12 fabulous guitars through DonorsChoose, we want to make sure that they are taken care of to the best of our abilities.

While we already treat our instruments with extra love and care, these accessories would help us make sure they are around for generations of students to use and enjoy!
