Guinea Pig Supplies for Our Classroom

My students need class guinea pigs to care for as part of our Montessori Practical Life curriculum to learn independence, responsibility, concentration, and care for others.

My Students

Each morning I welcome 25 curious, little learners into my mixed-age 3-6 year-old Montessori classroom: 9 three-year-olds, 8 four-year-olds, and 8 kindergartners.

This lively bunch spends their day learning through the use of hands-on Montessori materials in the different areas of our classroom, including Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language, Writing, Science, Art, Cultural, and Peace. Our school provides young children with a variety of experiences to build a foundation for success and learning.

I am proud to work in a school that values diversity and equality. The children in my classroom are racially, religiously, and socioeconomically diverse. Every child in our school receives free meals and snack. We are proud to be able to provide a Montessori learning environment for children who would not otherwise have access to this type of education.

My Project

In the 3-6 pre-primary Montessori classroom, we help children build coordination, concentration, independence, sense of responsibility, and positive self-image through exercises in Practical Life. One of the most important values children learn in this area of the classroom is care for others. One of the best ways to achieve this is to provide them with the opportunity to care for other living creatures.

Giving to this project will help the young children in my classroom learn to care for others.

I have requested the supplies necessary to provide a lovely home for 2 guinea pigs: a cage, bedding, food, water bottle, bowl, and a hide-away. The purchase of these guinea pig supplies would allow us to provide a suitable habitat to welcome guinea pigs into our classroom.
