Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a class of 20 excited kindergarten students in the South Bronx who come to school ready to learn and deserve endless resources, experiences, and opportunities.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and many come from families at lower income levels.
Many of my students come from challenging home environments and have limited resources at home. Despite the obstacles, my students come to school every day to a place where they are being molded into great students and learners.
My Project
My students are excited to learn to read and move up reading levels. They get so happy when they are engaging with a new text that they are able to read.
Unfortunately, our classroom library is small and we do not have a lot of guided reading books.
Guided reading is extremely important as students learn the skills they need to decode unknown words to progress as readers. The materials I am asking for contain multiple copies of leveled books for each level in my classroom and will help my students obtain the skills they need to be ready for first grade.
