My students are five and six year old kindergartners at a Title 1 public school in Philadelphia. Being a Title 1 school, most of the students live in poverty. For many of them, this is will be their first formal schooling experience.
I have also had the pleasure of being the ESOL friendly classroom teacher for the last three years.
This means that many of my children speak limited or no English at the beginning of the year. Providing a print rich environment and daily guided reading will be essential to the success of all my students!
My Project
This table would be a great meeting place for guided reading groups in my classroom. By utilizing the horsehoe shape, I will easily be able to meet with all of my students! I will be able to create small, flexible groups to better meet the reading needs of all my students.
This table would also be able to provide for small group opportunities in all other major subjects throughout the day!
I would be able to pull small groups for writing conferences, math skills, as well as science and social studies lessons.
Overall, this table will allow for easier small group interactions with my students!
