My students need multiple copies of texts at various reading levels to utilize during reading small group instruction time.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Flynn's classroom raised $478
This project is fully funded
I teach fourth grade at an elementary school in Indiana. My classroom is composed of ENL (English as a New Language) students and general education students who are one or more grade levels below in reading and/or math.
A majority of my student read below or well-below grade level. In order to help these struggling readers to develop their reading skills and teach them effective reading strategies I would like to implement small group reading instruction time this year. The purpose of small group instruction is to meet the needs of all students and work with them at their individual instructional level. Right now I do not have the resources needed to begin these small groups. I do not have multiple copies of various texts that cover a wide range of reading levels.
In order to implement small group instruction this year I need books, books, books! We will need various texts each with multiple copies so that each student in the group can read and interact with their own text. We also need books that represent a wide range of reading levels in order to meet the diverse needs of all the students. Once we have these resources and begin meeting in small groups students will receive focused lessons to build their reading comprehension, fluency, phonemic awareness, vocabulary skills, and more.
Your help will give my students the opportunity to read texts at their instructional level and allow them to focus on and learn specific reading skills and strategies that will help them develop into more proficient readers. By helping to purchase these materials you will play a strong role in developing strong proficient readers, not only this year but for many more years to come!
