Guided Reading Novels

My students need guided reading novels including The Giver, several American History novels, and African American biographies.

My Students

Novels are the next step for my fifth grade students. Novels can enhance their love of reading and learning.

I teach a group of 22 fifth grade student in an inner city school in Indianapolis.

My students love math and really excel in math but they need help with their reading and comprehension skills. They need exposure to a variety of texts, both fiction and non-fiction.

My Project

My students will use these books during guided reading and literacy circles. They will read the novels throughout the entire year to improve their reading and comprehension skills. Students will be able to read the novels in groups, partners, or by themselves. This will allow for students to learn to work with a variety of classmates and a variety of novels.

Reading a way for students to entire a different world and lose themselves in a great story or learn about someone from the past and how life was during different times in history.

These novels will allow my students to do both.
